AB 1263, as introduced, Mullin. Election day procedures: privileges of voters.
Existing law allows a voter, without loss of pay, to take off enough working time that, when added to the voting time available outside of working hours, will enable the voter to vote if he or she does not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote at a statewide election. Existing law provides that no more than 2 hours of the time taken off for voting shall be without loss of pay.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 14000 of the Elections Code is amended
2to read:
(a) If a voter does not have sufficient time outside of
4working hours to vote at a statewide election, the voter may,
5without loss of pay, take off enough working time that, when added
P2 1to the voting time available outside of working hours, will enable
2the voter to vote.
3(b) No more than two hours of the time taken off for voting
4shall be without loss of pay. The time off for voting shall be only
5at the beginning or end of the regular working shift, whichever
6allows the most free time for voting and the least time off from
7the regular working shift, unless otherwise mutually agreed.
