An act to amend Section 2108 of the Vehicle Code, relating to
vehicles.

AB 1422, as introduced, Cooper. California Highway Patrol.
Existing law establishes the Department of the California Highway
Patrol within the Transportation Agency, which is under the control
of a civil executive officer known as the Commissioner of the
California Highway Patrol. Existing law requires the commissioner to,
among other things, perform all duties and exercise all powers and
jurisdiction vested by law in the department.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to this
provision.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 2108 of the Vehicle Code is amended to read:
2108. (a) The commissioner shall perform
all duties, exercise all powers and jurisdiction, assume and
discharge all responsibilities, and carry out and effect all purposes
vested by law in the department.
Notwithstanding
(b) Notwithstanding any other
provision of law, the commissioner may
administratively determine the geographic area of residence of any
member of the department in order to assure the availability of
such that member for emergency service
and the discharge of departmental responsibilities.
