Existing law requires the State Department of Social Services to annually report to the appropriate fiscal and policy committees of the Legislature and to post on its Internet Web site a summary of outcome and expenditure data that allows for monitoring the changes of the 2011 realignment of child welfare services, foster care, adoptions, and adult protective services programs.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to those provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 10104 of the Welfare and Institutions
2Code is amended to read:
(a) It is the intent of the Legislature to ensure that the
4impacts of the 2011 realignment of child welfare services, foster
5care, adoptions, and adult protective services programs are
6identified and evaluated initially and over time. It is further the
7intent of the Legislature to ensure that information regarding these
P2 1impacts is publicly available and accessible and can be utilized to
2support the state’s and counties’ effectiveness in delivering these
3critical services and supports.
4(b) The State Department of Social Services shall annually
5report to the appropriate fiscal and policy committees of the
6Legislature, and publicly post on the department’s Internet Web
7site, a summary of outcome and expenditure data that allows for
8monitoring of changes over time.
9(c) The report shall be submitted and posted by April 15 of each
10year and shall contain expenditures for each county for the
11programs described in clauses (i) to (vii), inclusive, of
12subparagraph (A) of paragraph (16) of subdivision (f) of Section
1330025 of the Government Code. To the extent that the information
14is readily or publicly available, the report shall also contain the
15amount of funds each county receives from the Protective Services
16Growth Special Account created pursuant to Section 30025 of the
17Government Code, child welfare services social worker caseloads
18per county, and the number of authorized positions in the local
19child welfare services agency.

stakeholders to develop a reporting format consistent with the
22Legislature’s desired level of outcome and expenditure reporting
23detail.
