Existing law provides for the certification and regulation of podiatrists by the California Board of Podiatric Medicine within the jurisdiction of the Medical Board of California. This bill would extend the operation of the California Board of Podiatric Medicine until January 1, 2021.
begin insertExisting law, the Physician Assistant Practice Act, provides for the licensure and regulation of physician assistants by the Physician Assistant Board, which is within the jurisdiction of the Medical Board of California, and authorizes the Physician Assistant Board, except as specified, to employ personnel necessary to carry out the provisions of that act, including an executive officer. Existing law repeals provisions establishing the Physician Assistant Board and the authorization for the board to employ personnel as of January 1, 2017.

(a) There is created within the jurisdiction of the Medical
4Board of California the California Board of Podiatric Medicine.
5(b) This section shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2021,
6and as of that date is repealed. Notwithstanding any other law, the
7repeal of this section renders the California Board of Podiatric
8Medicine subject to review by the appropriate policy committees
9of the Legislature.
