Existing law authorizes a disabled person or disabled veteran displaying a special license plate or a distinguishing placard issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles or a foreign jurisdiction to park for unlimited periods in a restricted zone or parking zone, as specified, and to park in metered spaces without paying parking meter fees.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to this provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 22511.5 of the Vehicle Code is amended
2to read:
(a) (1) A disabled person or disabled veteran
4displayingbegin insert aend insert special licensebegin delete platesend deletebegin insert plateend insert issued under Section 5007
5or a distinguishing placard issued under Section 22511.55 or
622511.59 is allowed to park for unlimited periods in any of the
7following zones:
P2 1(A) In any restricted zone described in paragraph (5) of
2subdivision (a) of Section 21458 or on streets upon which
3preferential parking privileges and height limits have been given
4pursuant to
Section 22507.
5(B) In any parking zone that is restricted as to the length of time
6parking is permitted as indicated by a sign erected pursuant to a
7local ordinance.
8(2) A disabled person or disabled veteranbegin delete is allowed toend deletebegin insert
mayend insert park
9in any metered parking space without being required to pay parking
10meter fees.
11(3) This subdivision does not apply to a zone for which state
12law or ordinance absolutely prohibits stopping, parking, or standing
13of all vehicles, orbegin delete whichend deletebegin insert thatend insert the law or ordinance reserves for
14special types of vehicles, or to the parking of a vehicle that is
15involved in the operation of a street vending business.
16(b) A disabled person or disabled veteran is allowed to park a
17motor vehicle displaying a special disabled person license plate
18or placard issued by a foreign jurisdiction with the same parking
19privileges authorized in this code for any motor vehicle
displaying
20a special license plate or a distinguishing placard issued by the
21Department of Motor Vehicles.
