SUMMARY:
This omnibus education bill makes technical and
non-controversial revisions to the Education Code. Specifically,
this bill:
1)Repeals several California Department of Education (CDE)
reporting requirements that are either outdated or the
information can be provided upon request.
2)Requires meetings of district and county parent advisory
committees, established to provide advice on the development

of the local control and accountability plan, to be open to
the public and to comply notice requirements, as specified.
3)Strikes "unexcused" absences to allow Saturday or Sunday
classes to receive apportionment credit for makeup classes for
any absences and not just unexcused absences.
4)Strikes various obsolete code sections and makes other
technical corrections to the Education Code.
FISCAL EFFECT:
Negligible state fiscal impact.
COMMENTS: This bill is the annual K-12 education clean-up bill
that makes various non-controversial revisions to the Education
Code. The majority of the provisions were identified by the
California Department of Education and make technical
corrections to the statute, such as correcting a section
citation or striking obsolete language. By tradition, objection
to any provision by the agency affected, the Department of
Finance, or any of the four legislative caucuses prevents that
provision from being included in this bill.
