FISCAL EFFECT: No additional state costs because this bill permits CDFA to fund programs that are already not being funded. COMMENTS: Purpose and background. According to the author, AB 2888 will alleviate concerns on unfulfilled statutory mandates. Existing law requires CDFA to expend up on $100,000 in any fiscal year for fair exhibits that demonstrate the production and use of food and fiber from producer to consumer in California. However, CDFA has not spent any money for these purposes since 2011-12 as a result of staff reductions and the elimination of GF support for CDFA's Fairs and Expositions Branch in 2011.
