   An act relating to transportation.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 16, as introduced, Beall. Department of Transportation.
   Existing law provides that the Department of Transportation has
full possession and control of the state highway system.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature that the
department identify savings from implementing efficiencies in its
existing programs and direct those resources into expanded activities
for road repair and litter cleanup.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature that the Department
of Transportation identify savings from implementing efficiencies in
its existing programs and direct those resources into expanded
activities for road repair and litter cleanup.
