          DIGEST:   This resolution designates a portion of Interstate 10  
          in Banning as the CAL FIRE Firefighter Christopher Lee Douglas  
          Memorial Highway.

          ANALYSIS:  This resolution designates a five-mile portion of  
          Interstate 10 from the 22nd Street undercrossing to the Malki  
          Road undercrossing in Banning as the CAL FIRE Firefighter  
          Christopher Lee Douglas Memorial Highway.

          Comments

          Purpose.  This resolution was introduced to honor the life and  
          service of Firefighter Christopher Lee Douglas.

          Background on Mr. Douglas.  Mr. Douglas was born in Colorado  
          Springs, Colorado, and attended Palomar College in Vista,  
          California.  He was an 11-year veteran of the United States Air

          Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning the Air  
          Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the  
          Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force Training  
          Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal.

          Mr. Douglas began as a volunteer firefighter paramedic in 1999.   
          He attended the Company Officer's Academy where he received the  
          Carpe Diem Award for leadership.  In 2004, Mr. Douglas began his  
          career with CAL FIRE at La Quinta Fire Station #32 as a  
          Firefighter II/Paramedic and was promoted to Fire Apparatus  
          Engineer/Paramedic on June 4, 2013.

          On July 5, 2013, Mr. Douglas was leaving the scene of a medical  
          emergency when his fire engine was dispatched to another call.   
          While preparing to respond to the call, Mr. Douglas was struck  
          by a truck while he was at the side of his fire engine, and  
          succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

          Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife and two children.
