Relative to California Day of the Teacher.

HOUSE OR SENATE RESOLUTIONS DO NOT CONTAIN A DIGEST
WHEREAS, Education and knowledge are the foundation of America's
current and future strength; and
WHEREAS, Every child is born with great promise and deserves a
chance to achieve their dreams; and
WHEREAS, A great education is the key to unlocking our children's
potential and empowering them with the drive, knowledge, and skills
to fulfill those dreams; and
WHEREAS, A great education cannot happen without great teachers;
and
WHEREAS, Great teachers can make a lasting impact on a child's
life; and
WHEREAS, Great teachers in California are nurturing our next
generation of innovators, leaders, thinkers, doers, dreamers, and
artists and preparing them to meet the challenges of our future; and
WHEREAS, Great teachers in California are also among the most
civic-minded of our citizens, volunteering their time and
contributing to the well-being of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Great teachers in California have been responsible for
educating the professionals, the workers, the entrepreneurs, the
public officials, the first responders, and the service providers
that enable our communities to flourish; and
WHEREAS, Californians everywhere have stories to share about how
it was a teacher that inspired them to strive, to attain, and to
succeed in life; and
WHEREAS, We need to raise public awareness of the unquantifiable
contributions of teachers and to promote greater respect and
understanding for the teaching profession; and
WHEREAS, We want to take a day to acknowledge all the great
teachers in California and honor them with our gratitude and thanks;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, That the Senate
declares May 13, 2015, as California Day of the Teacher; and be it
further
Resolved, That the Senate also urges all Californians to remember
the importance of good teaching in our classrooms and how good
schools strengthen our communities; and be it further
Resolved, That the Senate calls upon students, parents, and all
Californians to recognize the hard work and dedication of all great
teachers in our state and to observe this California Day of the
Teacher by supporting teachers through appropriate activities,
events, and programs; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate transmit copies of this
resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
