DIGEST: This resolution recognizes the second full week in May
2015 as Women's Lung Health Week.

ANALYSIS: This resolution makes the following legislative
          findings:

1)Every five minutes, a woman in the United States is told she
            has lung cancer.

2)Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of women in the
United States, having surpassed breast cancer in 1987. Lung
cancer death rate in women has more than doubled over the past
            37 years.

3)Women are disproportionately burdened with chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease, known as COPD, compared to men in terms of
            illness and death.

                                                                     Page 2

4)Advocacy and increased awareness will result in more and
better treatment for women with lung cancer, COPD, asthma, and
other lung diseases and will ultimately save lives.

5)LUNG FORCE is the national movement led by the American Lung
Association with the mission of making lung cancer and lung
disease history by uniting women to stand together with
collective strength and determination to lead the fight
against lung cancer and for lung health.

This resolution recognizes the second full week in May 2015 as
Women's Lung Health Week, and commends the many residents and
organizations throughout the State of California that continue
to promote the awareness, detection, and treatment of lung
          cancer and all lung disease.
