          SUMMARY:


          This measure designates, as the "Police Officer Vilho Ahola  
          Memorial Interchange," the portion of State Route 101 on the  
          north end of the City of Petaluma known as the "Old Redwood  
          Highway Interchange."

          Minor State Highway Account costs to Caltrans to make and erect  
          appropriate signs; these costs are fully covered by donations.


          COMMENTS:


          Purpose. This measure honors Officer Ahola of the Petaluma  
          Police Department, who was shot in the line of duty in 1969 and  
          rendered quadriplegic. Officer Ahola thereafter worked in the  
          department's records division until 1989. Officer Ahola died on  
          February 1, 1998.
