The Public Employees’ Retirement Law creates the Public Employees’ Retirement System, which provides a defined benefit to its members based on age at retirement, service credit, and final compensation. Existing law defines “member” for purposes of that law.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to that definition.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 20370 of the Government Code is
2amended to read:
(a) “Member” means an employee who has qualified
4for membership in this system and on whose behalf an employer
5has become obligated to pay contributions.
6(b) “State member” includesbegin insert the followingend insert:
7(1) State miscellaneous members.
8(2) University members.
9(3) Patrol members.
10(4) State safety members.
11(5) State industrial members.
12(6) State peace officer/firefighter members.
P2 1(7) National Guard members as defined in Section 20380.5.
2(c) “Local member” includes:
3(1) Local miscellaneous members.
4(2) Local safety members.
5(d) “School member” includes all employees within the
6jurisdiction of a school employer, other than local police officers,
7school safety membersbegin insert,end insert and members included in a risk pool.
