An act to add Section 108.6 to the Labor Code, relating to
certified electricians.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
SB 607, as introduced, Bates. Certified electricians: skilled
journeyperson.
Existing law requires the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement
to maintain minimum standards for the competency and training of
electricians through a system of testing and certification.
Existing law also sets forth requirements for the use of a skilled
and trained workforce of all workers that are either skilled
journeypersons or registered apprentices to perform specified work on
state agency design-build projects, local agency design-build
projects, and at certain stationary sources posing a regulated
substances accident risk.
This bill would deem an electrician certified pursuant to those
standards a skilled journeyperson for purposes of any law.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 108.6 is added to the Labor Code, to read:
108.6. Notwithstanding any other law, an electrician certified
pursuant to this chapter shall be deemed a skilled journeyperson for
purposes of any law.
