An act relating to tenancy.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

SB 775, as introduced, Allen. Tenancy: deposits.

Existing law regulates the terms and conditions of residential tenancies. Existing law requires a landlord or his or her agent to allow a tenant to pay rent or a security deposit by at least one form of payment that is neither cash nor electronic funds transfer, except as specified.

This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would clarify when a landlord or his or her agent agrees that a tenant’s payment for rent or deposit for security is accepted or rejected.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
