An act relating to narcotic treatment programs.

SB 1025, as introduced, Nielsen. Narcotic treatment programs.

Existing law provides for the licensure of narcotic treatment programs that use narcotic replacement therapy in the treatment of drug-addicted persons. Existing law provides for the regulation of licensed narcotic treatment programs, as specified. Existing law authorizes licensed narcotic treatment programs to use methadone in narcotic replacement therapy.

This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation relating to licensed narcotic treatment programs and those that provide methadone treatment as a narcotic replacement therapy.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
2legislation relating to licensed narcotic treatment programs and
3the regulation and oversight of licensed narcotic treatment
4programs that provide methadone treatment as a narcotic
5replacement therapy.
