Existing law requires that supervisors of state employees represented by State Bargaining Unit 5, 6, or 8 receive salary and benefits changes that are at least generally the economic equivalent to the salary and benefits granted to employees they supervise. Existing law requires that the specific benefits that these supervisors receive be determined through a meet and confer process.
This bill would extend these requirements to apply to the salary and benefits changes for supervisors of state employees represented by State Bargaining Unit

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 19849.18 of the Government Code is

3section, “salary” means base pay and shall not be construed to
4include such forms of compensation as overtime. The benefit
5package shall be the economic equivalent, but the benefits need
6not be identical. The determination of the specific benefits that
7supervisors of state employees represented by State Bargaining
8Unit 5, 6, 7, or 8 shall receive shall be made through a meet and
9confer process as defined in Section 3533.
