An act relating to the payment of claims against the state, making an appropriation therefor, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

The sum ofbegin insert thirty-six million four hundred seventy
2thousand five hundred forty-seven dollars and one cent
3($36,470,547.01) is hereby appropriated from the General Fund
4to be allocated in accordance with the following schedule:end insert

6dollars ($235,400) is hereby appropriated to the Department of
7Justice to pay the settlement in Ballona Wetlands Land Trust v.
8Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission (Los Angeles Superior
9Court, Case No. BS154128). Any funds appropriated in excess of
10the amounts required for the payment of this claim shall revert to
11the General Fund.

(b) The sum of thirty-six million two hundred thirty-five thousand
13one hundred forty-seven dollars and one cent ($36,235,147.01) is
14hereby appropriated to the Department of Justice to pay the
15judgment in Pauma Band of Luiseño Mission Indians of the Pauma
16& Yuima Reservation v. State of California, et al. (United States
17District Court for the Southern District, Case No. 09CV1955).
18Any funds appropriated in excess of the amounts required for the
19payment of this claim shall revert to the General Fund.

SEC. 2.  

This act is an urgency statute necessary for the
21immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within
22the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into
23immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:

26for this act to take effect immediately.
