Senate BillNo. 1195

Introduced by Senator Hill

February 18, 2016

An act to amend Sections 4800 and 4804.5 of the Business and Professions Code, relating to healing arts.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

SB 1195, as introduced, Hill. Veterinary Medical Board: executive officer.

The Veterinary Medicine Practice Act provides for the licensure and registration of veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians and the regulation of the practice of veterinary medicine by the Veterinary Medical Board, which is within the Department of Consumer Affairs, and authorizes the board to appoint an executive officer, as specified. Existing law repeals the provisions establishing the board and authorizing the board to appoint an executive officer as of January 1, 2017.

This bill would extend the operation of the board and the authorization of the board to appoint an executive officer to January 1, 2021.
