SUMMARY:
This bill deletes provisions of the Education Code that are no
longer applicable or that have been rendered obsolete by the
enactment of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).
Specifically, this bill:

1)Repeals the Community Policing and Mentoring for School Safety
Pilot Program. This program is no longer funded.
2)Repeals an outdated reporting requirement on schools that
qualify for federal severe need meal reimbursements.
3)Repeals the Nell Soto Parent/Teacher Involvement Program. The
program was eliminated under the LCFF.
4)Repeals the Tom Hayden Community-Based Parent Involvement
Grant Program. This program was eliminated under the LCFF.
5)Repeals intent language to fund Nuclear Age Education
Curriculum.
FISCAL EFFECT:
Negligible state fiscal impact.
COMMENTS:
Background/Purpose. The enactment of the LCFF resulted in the
elimination of funding for nearly all categorical programs.
This bill repeals Education Code that is no longer applicable
under LCFF and other obsolete code sections. This is the third
bill authored by Senator Huff to clean up the Education Code.
Prior legislation include: SB 971 (Huff), Chapter 923, Statutes
of 2014, and SB 416 (Huff), Chapter 538, Statutes of 2015.
