The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act defines alcoholic beverages for purposes of that act and includes a definition of wine.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 23007 of the Business and Professions
2Code is amended to read:
“Wine” means the product obtained from normal
4alcoholic fermentation of the juice of sound ripe grapes or other
5agricultural products containing natural or added sugar or any such
6alcoholic beverage to which is added grape brandy, fruit brandy,
7or spirits of wine,begin delete whichend deletebegin insert thatend insert is distilled from the particular
8agricultural product or products of which the wine is made and
9other rectified wine products and by whatever name andbegin delete whichend delete
10begin insert thatend insert
does not contain more than 15 percent added flavoring,
11coloring, and blending material andbegin delete whichend deletebegin insert thatend insert contains not more
12than 24 percent of alcohol by volume, and includes vermouth and
13sake, known as Japanese rice wine.
P2 1Nothing contained in this section affects or limits the power,
2authority, or duty of the State Department of Health Services in
3the enforcement of the laws directed toward preventing the
4manufacture, production, sale, or transportation of adulterated,
5misbranded, or mislabeled alcoholic beverages, and the definition
6of “wine” contained in this section is limited strictly to the purposes
7of this division and does not extend to, or repeal by implication,
8any law preventing the production, manufacture, sale, or
9transportation of adulterated, misbranded, or
mislabeled alcoholic
10beverages.
