An act to amend Section 17071 of the Government Code, relating to state government.

Existing law requires the Controller and Treasurer to each keep a register of all canceled warrants showing the number, date, and amount of each warrant, the fund out of which it was payable, and the date of cancellation.

This bill would instead require the Controller and Treasurer to each keep a record of all canceled warrants within the Financial Information System for California.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 17071 of the Government Code is
amended to read:

17071.  

The Controller and Treasurer shall each keep a begin delete register
of all canceled warrants. The register shall show the number, date,
and amount of each warrant, the fund out of which it was payable,
and the date of cancellation. end delete begin insert record of all canceled warrants within
the Financial Information System for California (FISCal)
established pursuant to Chapter 10 (commencing with Section
11850) of Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2. end insert
