   House Resolution No. 71--Relative to commending the Honorable
Peter C. Frusetta.


  HOUSE OR SENATE RESOLUTIONS DO NOT CONTAIN A DIGEST



   WHEREAS, The Honorable Peter C. Frusetta, who has represented the
28th Assembly District for the past six years, has announced his
retirement as an Assembly Member and, upon this occasion, he is
deserving of highest commendations for his record of dedicated
service to his constituents and the State of California; and
   WHEREAS, Assembly Member Peter Frusetta was born in Tres Pinos in
1932 and his family has ranched in San Benito County for over 100
years; and
   WHEREAS, Assembly Member Frusetta graduated from Hollister High
School in 1950, and while attending Hollister High, Mr. Frusetta
played on the varsity football, basketball, and baseball teams (he
still holds the highest batting average, set in 1950); and
   WHEREAS, Assembly Member Frusetta graduated with honors from
Stanford University in 1954, attended Stanford's Graduate School of
Business and the Technical University of Guadalajara in Mexico, and
served in the United States Army in Germany from 1954 to 1956; and
   WHEREAS, Assembly Member Frusetta and his son, Robert, manage
Frusetta ranches with holdings in San Benito, Fresno, Merced, and
Madera Counties, and he has served as a director of the San Benito
County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Board of Directors of the
Tres Pinos County Water District and a volunteer with the Little
League and 4-H; and
   WHEREAS, Assembly Member Frusetta and his wife, Anita, have been
married for 41 years and reside in Tres Pinos, and they have four
children, Robert, Jack, Jennifer, and Nancy, and nine grandchildren;
and
   WHEREAS, In November 1994, Mr. Frusetta was elected to represent
California's 28th Assembly District and became the 41st Member to
give Republicans their first majority in a quarter century, and he
was re-elected in 1996 and 1998; and
   WHEREAS, He was elected to represent the sprawling 28th Assembly
District, which includes San Benito County and portions of Monterey,
Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara Counties; and
   WHEREAS, During his distinguished tenure with the California State
Assembly, he has personally authored numerous bills that have been
signed into law, and he has also worked to enact hundreds of other
measures by coauthoring or assisting with negotiations and
compromises; and
   WHEREAS, Through his professional, public, and community
activities, he has made a significant impact on the people of the
28th Assembly District and throughout the state, and he will be
sorely missed by those individuals with whom he has been associated;
now, therefore, be it
   Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, That the
Members take great pride in commending the Honorable Peter C.
Frusetta for his outstanding service to the people of the 28th
Assembly District and the people of California during his tenure as a
Member of the California Assembly, and extend to him heartiest best
wishes for happiness and success in his future endeavors; and be it
further
   Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit a suitably
prepared copy of this resolution to the Honorable Peter C. Frusetta.
