AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY , this bill authorized a voter who properly executes a voter registration affidavit at the polling place of his or her precinct on election day, to cast a provisional ballot at that election. FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown COMMENTS : This bill represents a compromise from the original version of this bill, which proposed a "same-day registration" procedure, in which a voter could execute a voter registration affidavit at the polling place on election day, and cast a provisional ballot for that election. This bill now permits a voter who executes a voter registration affidavit by the 15th, instead of the 29th, day before an election, to vote a regular ballot at that election. The bill also adjusts related administrated deadlines in order to implement the new shorter registration deadline.
