LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 879, Havice. Veterans: Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans Affairs. Existing law provides that the statutory authority for the position of Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans Affairs is repealed on January 1, 2001. This bill would delete that repeal provision, thereby extending this position indefinitely. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 79.1 of the Military and Veterans Code is amended to read: 79.1. In addition to the Undersecretary of Veterans Affairs, there shall be within the department, and the secretary shall appoint, a Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans Affairs who shall have responsibility over administration of women veterans affairs.
