STAFF COMMENTS:
SB 136 increases the license fee for professional engineers
from $175 every four years, to $400 every two years, and
increases the application fee for certification as an
engineer-in-training from $60 to $100.
The bill provides title act protection for interior
designers by making it unfair business practice for any
person to represent themselves as a "certified interior
designer". The California Council for Interior Design
Certification (CCIDC) is required to report to the Joint
Legislative Sunset Review Committee (JLSRC) by September 1,
2002 on outreach efforts, examinations, finances,
interactions of the organization, and materials and
information.
The bill is intended to implement legislative changes as
recommended by the JLSRC.
The California Tax Education Council is extended until
January 1, 2009.
