   An act relating to public contracts.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 807, as introduced, Leno.  Public contracts: prequalification:
reporting.
   The State Contract Act permits specified state departments to
require prospective bidders on contracts to complete financial
ability and experience questionnaires, and requires prequalification
of all prospective bidders to a contract whenever it is required of
any bidder to the contract.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require the Department of General Services to
report to the Legislature on the use of prequalification for bidders
on state construction, maintenance, and renovation contracts.
   Vote:  majority.  Appropriation:  no.  Fiscal committee:  no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require the Department of General Services to
report to the Legislature on the use of prequalification for bidders
on state construction, maintenance, and renovation contracts.
