           SUMMARY  :  Acknowledges the month of April 2005, as Child Abuse  
          Prevention Month. Specifically,  this resolution  makes the  
          following legislative findings:  

          1)Child abuse is an unacceptable social problem that results in  
            human and economic costs with approximately three million  
            reports of suspected or known child abuse and neglect made  
            each year.  

          2)The rate of infant homicide has doubled during a period when  
            overall infant mortality decreased from all other sources; and  
            it is estimated that 1,200 children, 85% under six years of  
            age and 44% under one year of age, lose their lives each year  
            as a result of abuse and neglect.
