           DIGEST  :    This bill extends the January 1, 2006 sunset for  
          an advisory council under the Department of Health Services  
          relating to battered womens shelters to 2010, as specified.

           ANALYSIS  :    Current law requires the Maternal and Child  
          Health Branch of the Department of Health Services (DHS) to  
          administer a comprehensive shelter-based services grant  
          program to battered women's shelters, as specified.   
          [Section 124250 of the Health and Safety Code]

          Current law further requires that, in implementing this

          grant program, DHS must consult with an advisory council  
          that shall remain in existence until January 1, 2006.

          Code]

          This bill extends this sunset until January 1, 2010.
