   AB 606, as introduced, Levine.   Civil rights: sexual orientation.

   Existing law provides that all persons within the jurisdiction of
this state have the right to be free from any violence, or
intimidation by threat of violence, committed against their persons
or property because of their race, color, religion, ancestry,
national origin, political affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, age,
disability, or position in a labor dispute, or because another
person perceives them to have one or more of those characteristics.

   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to
discourage discrimination and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual,
and transgendered persons (LGBT) and other minority groups.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to discourage
discrimination and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgendered persons (LGBT) and other minority groups.
