STAFF COMMENTS: SUSPENSE FILE
This bill is intended to ensure that the needs of lesbian and
gay seniors are addressed in the planning and development of
programs and services administered by the department and area
agencies. The author believes the bill will strengthen the
state's ability to respond to the needs of this population by
including LGBT seniors in the design and implementation of all
programs serving the elderly. It is reported that many LGBT
seniors avoid seeking services they need out of fear of
rejection or ridicule.
Cost estimates reduced per Department of Finance analysis.
