   An act relating to foster children.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1289, as introduced, Cedillo  Foster children: transitional
housing and services.
   Existing law provides for programs, such as the Transitional
Housing Placement Program and the Supportive Transitional
Emancipation Program (STEP), to provide services for foster children
making the transition to independent living.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to address transitional housing and life skills training
requirements for foster children up to the age of 18 years.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to address transitional housing and life skills training
requirements for foster children up to the age of 18 years.
