                  ACR 111 (Huffman) - As Introduced:  March 3, 2008
           
          SUBJECT  :   Senior Volunteer Month.

           SUMMARY  :   Recognizes the month of May 2008 as Senior Volunteer  
          Month to honor the contributions of California senior  
          volunteers.  Specifically,  this resolution  makes the following  
          legislative findings:  

          1)A 1999 national survey showed senior citizen volunteer work  
            hours totaled approximately 5.5 billion hours per year for a  
            $71.2 billion dollar value; and senior volunteers serve  
            persons of all ages in schools, hospitals, churches, and other  
            nonprofit organizations. 

          2)Many local governments proclaim May as Older Americans Month;  
            and Americans observe Older Americans Month by celebrating the  
            accomplishments and achievements of older Americans.
