           SUBJECT  :    Senior Volunteer Month

           SOURCE  :     California Senior Legislature


           DIGEST  :    This resolution recognizes the month of May 2008  
          as Senior Volunteer Month to honor the contributions of  
          California senior volunteers.

           ANALYSIS  :    

          This resolution makes the following legislative findings:

          1.A 1999 national survey showed senior citizen volunteer  
            work hours totaled approximately 5.5 billion hours per  
            year for a $71.2 billion dollar value; and, senior  
            volunteers serve persons of all ages in schools,  
            hospitals, churches, and other nonprofit organizations. 

          2.Many local governments proclaim May as Older Americans  
            Month, and Americans observe Older Americans Month by  
            celebrating the accomplishments and achievements of older
