SUMMARY : Enacts several recommendations proposed by the State
Auditor relative to the allowable allocation and uses of grants
to local government agencies to mitigate the impact of tribal
gaming in local jurisdictions.
The Senate amendments delete the Assembly version of the bill
and instead:
1)Enact several recommendations proposed by the State Auditor
relative to the allocation and uses of proceeds from the
Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund for local projects to
mitigate the impacts of tribal gaming.
2)Appropriate $30 million from the Indian Gaming Special
Distribution Fund to be allocated by the California Gambling
Control Commission for local projects that mitigate the
impacts of tribal gaming.
3)Extend the sunset of the program to provide funding from the
Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund to local jurisdictions
for local projects that mitigate the impacts of tribal gaming
to January 1, 2010.
4)Declare that this bill take effect immediately as an urgency
statute.
AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY , this bill established a new Medi-Cal
eligibility category for non-disabled persons with chronic
hepatitis B virus infection (CHBV) contingent on federal
approval and federal financial participation (FFP).

COMMENTS : This bill is substantially similar to July 1, 2008
version of AB 1389 (Torrico).
