An act to add Section 2786.1 to the Penal Code, relating to
convict labor.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 932, Jeffries. Convict labor: fire camps: weight training
equipment.
Existing law appropriates moneys from the Inmate Welfare Fund of
the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for educational and
recreational purposes at prison camps, as specified. Existing law
also provides for the regulation of the use of weight training
equipment in correctional facilities.
This bill would require the Secretary of the Department of
Corrections and Rehabilitation to provide inmates assigned to fire
suppression efforts with access to weight training equipment in
accordance with the regulations provided for the use of weight
training equipment in correctional facilities.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 2786.1 is added to the Penal Code, to read:
2786.1. The secretary shall make weight training equipment
available to inmates assigned to fire suppression efforts pursuant to
this article. The weight training equipment shall be used in
accordance with the provisions of Section 5010.
