                 ACR 37 (Torres) - As Introduced: February 26, 2009

SUBJECT : California Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

SUMMARY : Memorializes the week beginning April 12, 2009, as
California Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Specifically,
this resolution makes the following legislative findings:

1)Over one-half million dedicated men and women are engaged in
the operation of emergency response systems for federal,
state, and local governmental entities throughout the United
States; and an estimated 55,000 individuals are engaged in
answering 911 calls and operating the emergency response
            systems in California.

2)Public safety telecommunicators are the first point of contact
for most interactions between the public and police, fire, and
emergency medical assistance; and the public expects and
receives extraordinarily dedicated service from these
            individuals.

3)Congress has designated the week of April 12 to April 18,
2009, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
