                 ACR 93 (Torres) - As Introduced:  September 2, 2009
           
          SUBJECT  :   Red Ribbon Week.

           SUMMARY  :   Proclaims the period of October 23 through October  
          31, 2009, Red Ribbon Week and encourages all Californians to  
          help build drug-free communities and participate in drug  
          prevention activities.  Specifically,  this resolution  makes the  
          following legislative findings:    

          1)Securing a safe and healthy future for our children is  
            directly threatened by drug abuse, and awareness of this  
            problem will help individuals in fighting drug abuse.

          2)The objective of Red Ribbon Week 2009 is to promote drug  
            prevention, education, parental involvement, and communitywide  
            support through this year's theme "Drug Free is the Key".

          3)Various individuals and organizations throughout California  
            will demonstrate their commitment to drug-free, healthy  
            lifestyles by wearing and displaying red ribbons during this  
            weeklong celebration.
