SUBJECT : Make a Difference Day.
SUMMARY : Designates October 23, 2010, and every 4th Saturday
of October thereafter, as Make a Difference Day; and encourages
Californians to observe this day by connecting with others to
engage in projects benefiting their community. Specifically,
this resolution makes the following legislative findings :
1)Volunteer service is an investment in the future we all must
share; and, through both existing organization and individual
action, Californians can take an active role in America's
economic recovery and improve their fellow citizens' lives
through volunteer service.
2)President Barack Obama has proclaimed, "For as much as
government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and
determination of the American people upon which this nation
relies"; and, millions of people have joined to promote an
annual national day of volunteer service that celebrates and
strengthens the spirit of civic duty.
