SUBJECT : Make a Difference Day

DIGEST : This resolution designates October 23, 2010, and
every fourth Saturday of October thereafter, as Make a
Difference Day.
ANALYSIS : Resolution findings:
1.Serious social problems and difficult economic times have
created exceptional challenges for many families and our
nation.
2.Through both existing organization and individual action,
Californians can take an active role in America's
economic recovery and improve their fellow citizens'
lives through volunteer service.
3.Connecting with other people and working together through

volunteer service can bridge the differences that
separate people and help solve serious social conflicts.
4.Ordinary individuals can do extraordinary things to touch
and enhance the lives of other people by giving where
there is a need, rebuilding what has been torn down,
teaching where there is a desire to learn, and inspiring
those people who have lost hope.
5.Volunteer service is an investment in the future we all
must share.
6.President Barack Obama has proclaimed, "For as much as
government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith
and determination of the American people upon which this
nation relies".
7.Millions of people have joined to promote an annual
national day of volunteer service that celebrates and
strengthens the spirit of civic duty.
This resolution designates October 23, 2010, and every
fourth Saturday of October thereafter, as Make a Difference
Day.
