           SUMMARY  

          This measure designates, as the "Los Angeles County Sheriff  
          Deputy Juan Abel Escalante Memorial Highway," the portion of  
          State Route 101 in Los Angeles County between North Mission Road  
          and North Alameda Street, including the on ramps and off ramps  
          of North Vignes Street. 

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor costs to Caltrans to make and erect appropriate signs;  
          these costs are covered by donations.  (State Highway Account.)

           COMMENTS  

           Purpose  .  This measure honors Deputy Sheriff Escalante, who  
          served two and one-half years as a law enforcement officer, and  
          was killed in the line of duty on August 2, 2008.
