Regional Council of Rural Counties.
Supervisor Rood helped to secure funding and advocated to
complete the SR 20 by-pass between Grass Valley and Penn
Valley, a busy section of highway that area residents
consider critical to the economic development of the Penn
Valley.
Mr. Rood passed away in 1998.
The author introduced this resolution as a tribute to the
life and work of Eric W. Rood, who served as the Supervisor
for the 4th District in Nevada County from 1975 through
1987.
This resolution designates SR 20 from its intersection with
SR 49 and the intersection of Rough and Ready Highway and
Penn Valley Drive in Nevada County as the "Eric W. Rood
Memorial Expressway." The resolution further requests that
the Department of Transportation erect appropriate signs
upon receiving donations from non-state sources to cover
the costs.
