           SUMMARY

          This measure:

1)Recognizes the area along Vermont Avenue between Adams
Boulevard and 11th Street, in the City of Los Angeles, as the
            El Salvador Community Corridor.

2)Requests that Caltrans install signs, upon receiving
sufficient nonstate donations to cover its costs, on the
eastbound and westbound exits to Vermont Avenue from State
            Route 10.

           FISCAL EFFECT

Minor costs to Caltrans to make and erect appropriate signs,
fully offset by donations. (State Highway Account.)

           COMMENTS

Purpose . The resolution indicates that over 500,000 El
Salvadorans reside in the City of Los Angeles and have
contributed to improving the quality of life in that city. A
large majority of the city's El Salvadoran population lives in
          the Pico Union area.
