           SUMMARY  

          This measure designates, as the "Lake County Veterans Memorial  
          Highway," the portion of State Route (SR) 53, from its junction  
          with SR 29 in Lower Lake to the junction with SR 20 in Clearlake  
          Oaks.

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor costs to Caltrans to make and erect appropriate signs;  
          these costs are covered by donations.  (State Highway Account.)

           COMMENTS  

           Purpose  .  The author intends to recognize the service and  
          sacrifice of those who have served in the country's armed  
          forces, and in particular the service of Lance Corporal Ivan  
          Watson, who died on July 21, 2008 while supporting combat  
          operations in the Afghanistan.  Lance Corporal Wilson was the  
          first military service member from Lake County to die in the  
          Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
