           SUBJECT  :    Budget Act of 2009:  Parks

           DIGEST  :     Senate Floor Amendments  of 6/26/09 deletes the  
          prior version expressing the intent of the Legislature to  
          enact statutory revisions relating to the 2009 Budget Act.   
          This bill now provides the necessary statutory changes in  
          the area of parks in order to enact modifications to the  
          2009 Budge Act

          This bill makes the following changes:

          1.Establishes a $15 surcharge on each Vehicle License Fee  
            to be deposited into a dedicated account for California  
            state parks.

          2.Makes access to all day-use parks free for California  
            drivers, with the exception of museums and campgrounds.

          3.Reimburses local governments that operate state parks for  
            lost revenue.

          4.Surplus funds in the dedicated state park account are to  
            be used to fund deferred maintenance projects in state  
            parks.
