SUBJECT : State Routes (SR) 101 and 36
SUMMARY : Designates the interchange of SRs 101 and 36 as the
Supervisor Roger M. Rodoni Memorial Interchange. Specifically,
this bill :
1)Recounts the life and career of Roger M. Rodini, a rancher and
county supervisor in Humboldt County who served on numerous
committees and associations in his community.
2)Designates segments of SR 101 and SR 36, including the Alton
Interchange, as the Supervisor Roger M. Rodoni Memorial
Interchange.
3)Requests the Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to
determine the cost of appropriate signs consistent with the
signing requirements for the state highway system showing this
special designation and, upon receiving donations from
nonstate sources sufficient to cover the cost, to erect those
signs.
EXISTING LAW : Assigns Caltrans the responsibility to operate
and maintain state highways. This includes the installation and
maintenance of highway signs.
FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown
COMMENTS : Roger Rodoni served to 12 years as a supervisor for
Humboldt County. He was also a member of the Humboldt County
Association of Governments, Caltrans North District External
Advisory Committee, Hazardous Materials Response Authority,
Integrated Waste Management Hearing Panel, and various other
public agencies. As a rancher, he was renowned as one of the
most influential voices in the Humboldt County agricultural
community and was deeply connected to the land. Mr. Rodoni
passed away on April 24, 2008.
