SUMMARY
This bill adds a representative of the Chino Valley Independent
Fire District to the citizens' advisory committee (CAC) for the
three correctional facilities near Chino (the CA Institute for
Men, the CA Institute for Women, and the Stark Institute for
Juveniles.)
FISCAL EFFECT
Negligible state and local costs.
COMMENTS
1)Rationale . The author and the Chino Valley Fire District wish
to ensure that the district, which provides emergency medical
response and fire suppression to these state facilities, is
represented on the statutorily required CAC that represents
each of these facilities. Current law specifies CAC
representation, two members nominated by each state senator
and assemblymember representing the district, four members
nominated by the city council and board of supervisors
representing the area, and one nomination from local law
enforcement. CACs generally meet every two months.
2)The need for this bill is not clear as eight of the nine
existing appointments could cover the Chino Valley Fire
District.
