AB 472 (Blumenfeld) - As Introduced: February 24, 2009
Policy Committee: Governmental
Organization Vote: 16 - 0
Urgency: No State Mandated Local Program:
No Reimbursable:
SUMMARY
This bill requires all state agencies, departments, and
commissions that maintain websites to prominently display a link
on their homepage with the phrase "Preparing for Disasters."
That link is required to connect to a website created and
maintained by the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal
EMA) in consultation with the Seismic Safety Commission.
FISCAL EFFECT
Cal EMA already maintains a disaster preparedness website;
therefore any additional workload would be minor and absorbable
within existing resources.
COMMENTS
Purpose . The author intends for this bill to increase access and
exposure to information on earthquake preparedness and educate
the public on how to be ready in the event of a disaster by
requiring all state agencies, departments, and commissions to
display a link on their homepage with the phrase "Preparing for
Disasters."
