An act relating to firefighters.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 635, as introduced, V. Manuel Perez. Fire protection:
respiratory equipment.
Existing law establishes the State Board of Fire Services in the
Office of the State Fire Marshal. Existing law requires the board to
recommend the establishment of minimum standards with respect to
specified elements of fire protection, including fire equipment.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require that wildland fire respiratory
equipment be provided to firefighters and that would prohibit a
public agency from restricting firefighters in the use of that
equipment in a wildland fire.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require that wildland fire respiratory
equipment be provided to firefighters and that would prohibit a
public agency from restricting firefighters in the use of that
equipment in a wildland fire.
