                                 SUBJECT OF BILL  
          Military uniforms at high school graduations  
           
                           EXISTING LAW AND BACKGROUND  
          Present law is non-existent.

          Some high school seniors graduate a semester early, but  
          still come back to walk with their classmates at the actual  
          ceremony in June.  Some of these students enlist in the  
          military and are uniformed soldiers by the time of their  
          graduation ceremony.

                                   PROPOSED LAW  
          This law would guarantee that those graduating students who  
          are now properly uniformed soldiers have a right to wear  
          their uniform at their graduation ceremonies.
                                         
                                    COMMENT  
             1.   It is assumed that this bill would affect a small  
               number of graduates.  There are no figures available  
               as to the specific numbers, but considering that a  
               student would have to graduate early, immediately  
               enter boot camp in order to graduate in time to return  
               home for high school graduation, and then still come  
               home to actually participate, odds dictate that few  
               individuals will be eligible under this law.
             2.   Presently graduation dress code is a local  
               decision.
